Sell by brand

Sell your old POCO phone.

POCO is a Xiaomi sub-brand, from the C and M series to the X and F series, and its phones use the same Xiaomi account and settings menus as Redmi phones. On X and F series phones, a buyer may also check how warm the phone gets and how fast it charges. Like any Xiaomi phone, a POCO has to be signed out of your Xiaomi account before anyone else can use it.

Turn off Mi account lock and Google FRP lock

POCO phones use your Xiaomi (Mi) account for Find device, which keeps the phone locked to you after a reset, and Google's Factory Reset Protection (FRP) does the same for your Google account. Both need to come off.

  1. 01

Open Settings > Xiaomi Account (Mi Account on older phones) and tap Sign out. You will need your password if Find device is on.

  2. 02

Remove your Google account. It is usually under Settings > Accounts & sync; menu names vary with the MIUI or HyperOS version.

  3. 03

Reset from Settings > About phone > Factory reset > Erase all data.

  4. 04

If the phone is already reset or no longer with you, sign in at i.mi.com and turn off Find device for it.

02

Find the IMEI

  • Dial *#06# in the Phone app.
  • On HyperOS, open Settings > About phone > Detailed info and specs > Status. On older phones, look under Settings > About phone.
  • Check the label on the original box.

Check that it is valid with the free IMEI checker.

03

Get it ready to sell

  • Back up from Settings > About phone > Back up and restore, to Xiaomi Cloud or a computer, and save your photos off the phone.
  • Moving to another POCO, Redmi or Xiaomi phone? Mi Mover copies your data across directly over Wi-Fi.
  • If you play games on it, make sure your game progress is linked to an account before you reset.
  • If the phone was bought on EMI through a finance company, clear the loan or check with the lender first.
  • Sign out of your Xiaomi account, remove your Google account, and take out the SIM cards and any memory card.
  • Reset from Settings > About phone > Factory reset.

What moves the price

  • On X and F series phones, a buyer may check how warm the phone gets under load and whether fast charging works, so bring the original charger.
  • RAM and storage follow the version on the box. Extended RAM, which borrows from storage, does not count.
  • The screen is checked on a white background for marks, patches or lines.
  • A POCO that still gets HyperOS updates is easier to sell than one whose updates have ended.
  • The box with a matching IMEI label and the bill both help.

Questions

Does a POCO use a Xiaomi account or its own account?

A Xiaomi account. POCO is part of Xiaomi, so the account in Settings is the same Xiaomi (Mi) account, with the same Find device lock. Sign out of it before you reset.

My POCO asks for a Mi account after reset. What do I do?

Find device was still on when the phone was reset. Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with the same Xiaomi account to unlock it, or reset the password from the Xiaomi account sign-in page. If the account is someone else's, only they can release the phone, from i.mi.com.

Do I need to remove the Google account too?

Yes. The Xiaomi account and the Google account are separate locks, and either one can stop the next owner from setting up the phone.

Is Recashy part of POCO or Xiaomi?

No. Recashy is independent and is not affiliated with Xiaomi or POCO. The POCO name is used here only to describe the phones this page covers.

What is your POCO worth?

A fair range for your model, age and condition, before anyone quotes you.
