Questions from shop owners
Straight answers for mobile shop owners on Recashy: what it costs, who sees your records and prices, staff and devices, customers without ID, and leaving.
In short
- Recashy is free for retailers, with no card and no charge per record.
- Your records and buying prices are never shown to other shops.
- Where something is not available yet, the answers say so.
01Cost, staff and devices
What does Recashy cost?
Nothing. Recashy is free for retailers. You do not add a card, and there is no charge per record.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Recashy runs in the browser on a phone or a computer, so there is nothing to install. On a phone, the tabs sit along the bottom of the screen, with Buy in the middle.
Can my staff have their own logins?
Not yet. Today a shop is run from the Google account that set it up. Separate staff logins are not available.
Can I use more than one phone or computer?
Yes. Sign in with the same Google account on each one, for example the counter computer and your own phone. They all show the same register and stock.
What if the phone model is not in the list?
Type it in anyway. The list covers 26 brands and about 1,377 models, but it is only there to save you typing. Whatever you enter is saved exactly as you wrote it.
02Data and privacy
Who can see my records?
Your shop. Recashy stores the records on your behalf, and other shops cannot open your register. The only thing that crosses between shops is a seen-before count for an IMEI, which never names your shop. As the terms explain, Recashy cooperates with lawful police enquiries about specific records.
Does Recashy see my prices?
Your prices are stored on Recashy, because that is where your register lives. They are never shown to other shops. Recashy's team looks at platform-wide totals, such as how many records have been filed. On the dealer market, other dealers see only the asking price you set for a lot, never what you paid.
What happens to my customers' ID numbers?
Only the last 4 digits are kept, with a one-way fingerprint so a repeat seller can be recognised. The full number is never stored. If you photograph an Aadhaar card, cover the first 8 digits.
What if the customer has no ID?
You can still file. ID proof is optional, and a verified number, name, handset, IMEI and amount make a Basic record. Photos of the handset and of the seller holding it make it stronger. Many police departments expect ID for second-hand purchases, so check what your local police require.
03Records, mistakes and leaving
I made a mistake on a filed record. What now?
Filed records are locked and cannot be edited. Corrections are filed as a new record linked to the original. Email support@recashy.com with the RC number and what is wrong.
Do I still need a paper register?
That depends on your local police, and rules differ from place to place, so ask what they expect. Recashy can print any record and download your whole register as a spreadsheet, so you can produce it in the form they ask for.
What happens if I stop using Recashy?
You owe nothing, because there is nothing to pay. Before you go, download your register with Download CSV and print any records you want on paper, so you hold your own copy. For anything about closing your shop or your data, email support@recashy.com.
How do I contact Recashy?
Email support@recashy.com for help with using Recashy. For partnership questions, write to partners@recashy.com.
