Why a counter beats a quote.
Instant online quotes are useful for a rough idea. Here is what changes when the sale happens at a shop instead.
| Instant online quote | At a Recashy shop | |
|---|---|---|
| When the price is fixed | An estimate first. The final figure comes after a pickup inspection. | After the check, in front of you, before you hand anything over. |
| Who checks the phone | Someone you meet once, or a warehouse later. | A shop with an address you can walk back into. |
| When you are paid | After pickup and inspection. | At the counter, by cash or UPI. |
| Paperwork | Varies. | A numbered record with your verified number and the IMEI. |
| Your ID | Varies. | Only the last 4 digits are kept. Never the full number. |

How does selling a phone through Recashy work?
Selling your phone through a Recashy partner shop is being built. When it opens, you walk into the shop with your phone, the shop checks it in front of you and agrees a price, verifies your number with a one-time code on your own phone, records the IMEI and pays you the same day in cash or by UPI. What is live today is the free platform that mobile shops use to record the phones they buy.
What happens if I sell to a shop that already uses Recashy?
You will see the same steps at the counter. The shop sends a code to your mobile number, records the phone's IMEI and reads you a short declaration that the phone is yours to sell. The price and the payment are agreed between you and the shop.
Do I have to go to a shop?
Yes. Sales happen in person at the shop's counter, so you can watch your phone being checked and leave with your money. Recashy does not collect phones from homes, and there is no courier.
Why does the shop send a code to my phone?
The code proves that the mobile number on the record of the sale is really yours. That ties the sale to you, which protects you as much as the shop if the phone's history is ever questioned. Read the code out only to the shop you are selling to, at the counter, and never to someone who calls or messages you for it.
Will the shop keep my Aadhaar number?
Not on Recashy. If you show an ID, only its last 4 digits are kept, with a one-way fingerprint that cannot be turned back into the number. The full number is never stored. You can also show a masked Aadhaar, which hides the first 8 digits.
That phone in the drawer loses value every month.
Find out what it is worth today, then get it ready to sell.
