Sell your old OPPO phone.

OPPO phones run from the A and K series to the F and Reno lines, the Find X flagships and the Find N Flip foldables. A buyer looks at the screen, the cameras and the fast charging, and makes sure your Google account is off the phone. ColorOS menus change between versions, so if a path here does not match your phone, search Settings for the option by name.

Turn off Google FRP lock

OPPO phones use Google's Find Hub (formerly Find My Device) and Factory Reset Protection (FRP). A phone wiped with your Google account still on it can ask the next owner for your password.

In Settings, open the accounts section (search for Accounts if you cannot find it), tap your Google account and choose Remove account. Repeat for every Google account.

Sign out of your OPPO or HeyTap account as well, if you signed in to one.

Reset from Settings, not recovery mode: open Back up and reset, then Reset phone > Erase all data. On older ColorOS versions, Back up and reset is under Additional settings.

Find the IMEI

Dial *#06# in the Phone app.
Open Settings > About device > Status. Older ColorOS versions call it About phone.
Check the barcode label on the original box.

Check that it is valid with the free IMEI checker.

Get it ready to sell

Back up with Google (Settings > Google > All services > Backup) and keep your photos in Google Photos or on a computer.
Moving to another OPPO, OnePlus or realme phone? Clone Phone copies contacts, messages, photos and apps straight across.
Back up WhatsApp chats from inside WhatsApp.
If the phone was bought on EMI through a finance company, clear the loan or check with the lender first.
Remove your Google account and sign out of any OPPO account.
Take out the SIM cards and any memory card, then reset from Back up and reset > Reset phone > Erase all data.

What moves the price

On camera-led models such as the Reno series, a buyer checks every lens for scratches and tests the front and rear cameras.
Bring the original charger and cable. SUPERVOOC fast charging needs a compatible charger to reach full speed, and a buyer may test it.
On Find N Flip foldables, the hinge, the crease and the cover screen are checked closely.
RAM and storage follow the version on the box. RAM expansion, which borrows from storage, does not count.
The box and the bill help, especially while the phone is still under warranty.

Questions

My OPPO asks for the old Google account after reset. What now?

That is Google's Factory Reset Protection. Sign in with the Google account that was on the phone, or with your old screen lock if the phone offers that option. If you have forgotten the password, recover the account through Google first.

Does OPPO have its own lock like Find My iPhone?

On an OPPO phone, the lock to deal with is Google's: Find Hub and Factory Reset Protection, tied to your Google account. Remove it before the reset, and sign out of any OPPO account too.

Is Clone Phone a backup?

Not on its own. Clone Phone copies data from your old phone to a new one while you have both. If you are not switching straight to a new phone, back up to Google and save your photos before you reset.
