Turn off Google FRP lock

OnePlus phones use Google's Find Hub (formerly Find My Device) and Factory Reset Protection (FRP). If your Google account is still on the phone when it is wiped, it can ask the next owner for your password.

    In Settings, open the accounts section (search for Accounts if you cannot find it), tap your Google account and choose Remove account. Repeat for every Google account.

    Sign out of your OnePlus account too, if you added one on the phone.

    Reset from Settings, not recovery mode. On recent OxygenOS versions it is Back up and reset > Reset phone > Erase all data; search Settings for Reset if the menu looks different.

    If the phone has already left your hands, sign it out from your Google Account's Security > Your devices page.

Find the IMEI

  • Dial *#06# on the keypad.
  • Open Settings > About device (About phone on older OnePlus phones) and look under Status if the IMEI is not shown straight away.
  • Check the label on the original box.

Get it ready to sell

  • Back up with Google: Settings > Google > All services > Backup, and keep your photos in Google Photos or on a computer.
  • Moving to a new OnePlus, OPPO or realme phone? Clone Phone (formerly OnePlus Switch) moves contacts, messages, photos and apps across.
  • Back up WhatsApp chats from inside WhatsApp as well.
  • Remove your Google account and sign out of your OnePlus account.
  • Take out the SIM cards.
  • Reset from Settings using Back up and reset > Reset phone > Erase all data.

What moves the price

  • A green line on the display lowers the price a lot. OnePlus India runs a lifetime display warranty for this fault, so ask an authorised service centre about a free screen before you sell.
  • On models with an alert slider, it should click cleanly between all its positions.
  • Bring the original charger and cable. OnePlus fast charging needs a compatible charger to reach full speed, and a buyer may test it.
  • RAM and storage follow the version on the box; the higher versions of the same model are worth more.
  • A model that still gets OxygenOS updates is easier to sell than one whose updates have ended.

Does OnePlus have its own lock like Apple's Activation Lock?

The lock that matters on a OnePlus is Google's Factory Reset Protection, tied to your Google account. Remove the Google account before you reset, and sign out of your OnePlus account if you added one.

My OnePlus has a green line on the screen. Should I fix it before selling?

It is worth asking first. OnePlus India's lifetime display warranty offers a free screen replacement for the green line fault on phones bought through authorised channels, within the parts supply period and excluding physical damage. A working screen gets a far better price.

Will Clone Phone move everything to my new phone?

It moves contacts, messages, call logs, photos, videos and many apps between OnePlus, OPPO and realme phones. Fingerprints and your screen lock do not move, and banking and similar apps may ask you to sign in again.
