How it works
One counter. One record. Both sides protected.
Selling a phone should not depend on trusting a stranger. At a Recashy partner shop, the important parts are checked, verified and written down.
For the seller
Five steps at the counter.
About two minutes once the phone is ready. Get it ready first.
- 01
Bring the phone and one ID
Reset at home if you can. Bring the box, charger and bill if you have them. Any government photo ID works.
- 02
The shop checks it in front of you
Screen, body, buttons, cameras, battery, and the IMEI. The phone gets a condition grade from A to D.
- 03
You agree a price, or walk away
The quote comes after the check. There is no obligation to sell.
- 04
Your number is verified
A one-time code is sent to your own phone and you read it to the shop. This ties the sale to you. It is never a payment code.
- 05
You are paid, the record is filed
Cash, UPI or bank transfer, or the amount is adjusted against a new phone. The sale is filed with its own record number.
The record
What goes on the record.
Every sale leaves one slip like this in the shop’s register.
- 1
Record number
Every filed sale gets the next number in the shop’s register, like RC-000214. It never changes.
- 2
Handset and IMEI
Make, model, storage and the 15-digit IMEI, checked against its check digit.
- 3
Condition grade
A like new, B light marks, C visible wear, D damaged. Written down, not argued later.
- 4
Verified number
Your mobile number, confirmed by the code you received on it.
- 5
ID, last 4 digits
If an ID is recorded, only its type and last 4 digits are kept.
- 6
Amount and payment
What you were paid and how: cash, UPI, bank transfer or adjusted.
- 7
Declaration
Your statement that the phone is yours to sell, recorded word for word.
Kept out
What never goes on it.
- Your full Aadhaar or ID number. Only the last 4 digits.
- Anything from inside your phone. You reset it before it changes hands.
- Edits after filing. A filed record is locked; corrections are added as a linked record.
- Your OTP as a payment. The code only verifies your number.
For the shop
The same record protects the shop.
If a handset is ever questioned, the shop can show who sold it, the verified number, the IMEI, and the declaration. The record is filed as part of buying the phone, not as paperwork afterwards.
