Sell by brand

Sell your old Google phone.

A Pixel is tied closely to your Google account, and that account is also the lock a buyer worries about. Before quoting, a buyer checks the screen, cameras and battery, and how long the model will keep getting updates. Google promises seven years of updates for the Pixel 8 and later, counted from each model's launch.

Turn off Find Hub and Google FRP lock

Find Hub (formerly Find My Device) and Factory Reset Protection (FRP) tie a Pixel to your Google account. If the phone is wiped with the account still on it, the next owner can be asked for your password.

  1. 01

Open the accounts section in Settings (Passwords & accounts or similar, depending on the Android version), tap your Google account and choose Remove account. Repeat for each account.

  2. 02

If you changed your Google password in the last 24 hours, wait before resetting. Google recommends this.

  3. 03

Reset from Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset). Google advises the Settings reset for trade-ins.

  4. 04

If the Pixel is no longer with you, sign it out from your Google Account's Security > Your devices page.

02

Find the IMEI

  • Open Settings > About phone and scroll to IMEI. Pixels that take both a SIM card and an eSIM have two IMEI numbers.
  • Check the original box, or the SIM card tray.
  • Dial *#06# on the keypad.

Check that it is valid with the free IMEI checker.

03

Get it ready to sell

  • Back up with Google: Settings > Google > All services > Backup, then Back up now. Photos and videos are backed up by Google Photos, so check it has finished.
  • Moving to a new Android phone? It can copy apps and data from your Pixel during setup, before you reset this one.
  • If you use an eSIM, remove it. Settings > System > Reset options includes an option to erase eSIMs. This does not cancel your connection, so speak to your operator about moving the number.
  • Charge the phone to at least 70% before the reset, as Google recommends.
  • Remove your Google account, take out the SIM card, then reset from Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).

What moves the price

  • On Pixel 8a and later, Settings > Battery > Battery health shows the status and an estimated capacity. Reduced means the battery holds less than 80% of its original charge.
  • Pixel 8 and later models are promised seven years of updates, so buyers value them above older Pixels near the end of support.
  • The rear camera glass is checked for cracks or scratches, and every camera is tested.
  • On Pixel Fold models, the hinge, the crease and both screens are checked closely.
  • The box and the bill help, and so does any warranty left.

Questions

Do I need to remove my Google account before resetting a Pixel?

Yes. Remove it first, then reset from Settings. If you changed your Google password in the last 24 hours, Google advises waiting before you reset.

How long will my Pixel get updates?

Google promises seven years of updates for the Pixel 8 and later, counted from each model's launch. Older Pixels get fewer, and a buyer will check how much support is left.

How do I check my Pixel's battery health?

On Pixel 8a and later, open Settings > Battery > Battery health. Normal is good news; Reduced means the battery holds less than 80% of its original charge. Older Pixels do not show this screen.

Is Recashy linked to Google?

No. Recashy is independent and is not affiliated with Google. The Google and Pixel names are used here only to describe the phones this page covers.

What is your Google worth?

A fair range for your model, age and condition, before anyone quotes you.
